FRIDAY, AUGUST 14
All Percussion members are to report to the WVU Creative Arts Center on the Evansdale campus at 12:00 p.m. for camp. All Colorguard members are to report to the WVU Creative Arts Center on the Evansdale campus at 6:00 p.m. for camp. Instrument/equipment assignments and rehearsals will begin that afternoon/evening. Rehearsals will continue all day Saturday as well as on Sunday in the late morning and early afternoon. These two and a half days will serve as a "precamp" before the official start of camp on Sunday.
SATURDAY, AUGUST 15
All Section Leaders, Rank Leaders, Assistant Section Leaders, and Assistant Rank Leaders need to report at 10:00 a.m. to 200B of the Creative Arts Center for the annual "Leaders Mini-Camp." Activities for the day will include motivation, chart reading, goal setting, and strategies for you to become an effective "teacher." Your position in the band is very important, so please bring any ideas or suggestions you may have for improving the group. Please clear your calendar for this day - ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY. E-mail will be sent to the addresses you provided us on your contracts concerning this "mini-camp" (and some other matters) in the upcoming weeks.
SUNDAY, AUGUST 16
ALL OTHER MEMBERS of the 2009 WVU Band must report to the WVU Creative Arts Center on the Evansdale campus between 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. for registration. It will be during registration that university owned instruments will be distributed. At 2:30 p.m., there will be a general meeting for all students and interested parents at the Creative Arts Center. THIS MEETING IS MANDATORY!! Note: It is VERY important to arrive early enough to register before the 2:30 p.m. meeting!!
EARLY MOVE-IN TO RESIDENCE HALLS: If you are living in a University Residence Hall this year and you would like to move in early for the week of band camp, please use the YELLOW FORM you received with the Pride Press to notify us of your intention to move into the dorms on Sunday of Band Camp. * PLEASE NOTE - MOVE-IN TIME WILL BE ON SUNDAY, AUGUST 16TH FROM 4:00 P.M. TO 6:30 P.M. ONLY! Full-band rehearsals will begin at 7:00 p.m. at the WVU Band practice field at the Coliseum - you must plan accordingly.
Because the residence halls' dining facilities and the University transportation systems do not operate until Friday, those without transportation can be assigned an upperclassman "mentor" who will help transport you to and from band rehearsals, as well as take you to places to eat. This also goes on the YELLOW FORM. NOTE: BRING ENOUGH MONEY WITH YOU TO CAMP FOR YOUR MEALS.
For questions concerning housing for band camp, please call the WVU Band Office at (304) 293 - 4841 (ext. 3157) or e-mail us at

. The office of Housing and Residential Education is responsible for assigning your housing; please contact them directly (not the Band Office) if you have questions regarding your assignment. Their number is (304) 293 - 4491.
It is extremely important that all information must be provided on the YELLOW FORM for every student who is planning on moving into their dorm on Sunday, 8/16. FAILURE TO RETURN THIS FORM MAY JEOPARDIZE YOUR CHANCES TO OBTAIN THESE ARRANGEMENTS FOR CAMP - this is out of our (Band Office's) control. If information is missing it may result in the student being billed for the early arrival daily room rate, plus the additional per night fee of $125. In addition, if students show up who are not on the list, they will also be billed for early arrival and the $125 per night fee because Housing will not know they shouldn't be billed. All of this is completely out of the Band Office's control. Thank you for your attention to this important paperwork.
